Last week Peter Sprigg, the Family Research Council's Vice President of Policy, was captured on camera calling for the forced exile of, lesbian gay, bisexual, and transgender American citizens.
The comment came in response to a reporter's query about the Uniting American Families Act - UAFA. Said Sprigg, "I would much prefer to export homosexuals from the United States than to import them into the United States because we believe homosexuality is destructive to society."
Immigration Equality ensured that the comment was not unnoticed and used the attack to highlight the need for the passage of UAFA. With the help of 70 blogs, including Citizen Crain - who broke the story, Towleroad, Dailykos, Mother Jones, and the Bilerico Project, we were able to respond to the attack, take a stand against hate speech, and bring UAFA to the attention of a new audience.
